At Temple Bookbinders we pride ourselves in continuing the traditional craft of binding books entirely by hand. We rebind, restore and conserve books and paper, using our wide range of sympathetic, archivally sound materials. We have an extensive library of gold finishing tools, which means we can recreate any period or style.
We take the time to discuss options with each client. We can design, recreate or conserve a binding. Clients may choose from our extensive selection of materials which include goatskin or calf leathers, vellum, linens, book cloth and decorative papers. Our gold finishers can create or replicate any style using our large collection of traditional hand tools, still heated over stoves in the traditional manner.
We are also able to offer paper conservation: meaning tears, damaging repairs (such as 'sticky tape') and stains can be addressed, resulting in the life of the page being extended and the appearance being improved.
