Founded in 1972 and this year celebrating its 50th year in Chelsea, Partridges is a family-owned, fine food, award-winning, retailer with a reputation for selling the best-quality foods and wines. It runs the popular Saturday Duke of York Square fine food market, has an outdoor café, a growing export business, and created the highly acclaimed ‘Startisans’ concept to encourage start up artisan food businesses.
Partridges cherishes its original idea of providing the very finest quality foods, and this ethos carries into its popular Saturday food market. Started in October 2005 on the doorstep of the Chelsea store at Duke of York Square, Partridges Market celebrates the diversity and abundance of food in London by showcasing artisan producers. Starting off with 15 stalls, the market now comprises of, on average, 70 stalls every Saturday, selling a variety of produce including cheeses, fresh meat, condiments, confectionery, and international speciality dishes. In 1998 it opened a second shop in Gloucester Road and in 2014 launched the Startisans initiative to support start up food artisans.
