Royal Lochnagar is a delicate Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, rich in flavour with fruit, wood and light toffee notes. The distillery sits at the foot of the Cairngorm mountains, a mile from HM Queen Elizabeth II Balmoral Estate, and is part of the fabric of Royal Deeside, welcoming visitors all year round for tours and tastings.
The distillery opened in 1845 as Lochnagar, named after the nearby Munro. Three years later it was granted the title Royal Lochnagar following a visit by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert; the 170th anniversary was marked by a visit from HRH The former Prince of Wales and Duke of Rothesay.
Fed by the crystal clear water of the Scarnock springs, Royal Lochnagar retains a traditional appearance and methods of manual production, including pagoda kiln heads and an open mash tun, to make the finest quality spirit.
The distillery is certified as carbon neutral as part of parent company Diageo's net zero ambition, and holds with the Gold Award for Green Tourism for its commitment to sustainability.
