Food & Drink
Nestled in the Cych Valley in West Wales is the 100 hectare organic dairy ‘Fferm Glyneithinog’. Here lies Caws Cenarth Cheese, a family business started by Gwynfor and Thelma Adams in1987 in response to European Milk Quotas. The business was founded on organic principles and has sustainability at the core of its operation. Over the years the business has supported the local rural economy by providing well-paid employment, now supporting the well-being of over 20 individual families. We are the longest established Traditional Farmhouse Caerffili cheesemakers and have recently been awarded European Protective Geographical Indication (PGI) status. This means that the recipe that has existed for generations cannot be copied anywhere in the world.
Following in the footsteps of several generations of family cheesemakers in West Wales, CEO Carwyn Adams, with his passion and flair, continues to lead the team, producing the traditional Caerffili cheese along with more recently introduced varieties including the Brie-like ‘Perl Wen’, a creamy blue cheese named ‘Perl Las’, and ‘Golden Cenarth’, a washed-rind cheese with a powerful flavour.
With the emphasis on Organic and artisan, Caws Cenarth Cheese has proudly supplied the Royal household for many years.
