Established in 1797, Hatchards is London’s oldest booksellers. With five floors of books to choose from we pride ourselves that we can always match the perfect title to the customer. We sell new and out of print books and always have a good selection of signed first editions.
We send books anywhere in the world, produce yearly catalogues and arrange wedding lists. We also offer individual subscriptions with a specialist bookseller choosing your books each month. In 2014 we were proud to open a second branch in St Pancras International providing the same level of service to bookish travellers.
The shop may be over two centuries old but we combine the best of the new with a fine, old tradition. A limited edition art book, the latest bestseller, a portable paperback or a classic children’s story book are all on our shelves. We can order any book in print and usually source fine copies of any that are out of print. The shop has regular signings and events, with many authors also being customers.
We have had a long and proud association with the royal family; Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III was one of our first customers.
